Our own former Coventry City favourite Mick Coop displayed his all-round sporting prowess at the club on Saturday.
Members took full advantage of some excellent conditions on the course to produce some excellent scores in the August Medal, which also incorporated the Stanley Dunn Cup, the over 50s trophy, the over 60s trophy and the senior club championship.
None more so than Coop who carded two birdies and ten pars in a typically consistent round of 75, nett 66, to finish top of Division A which also scooped the senior club championship.
Roger Jones 76, nett 67, was runner-up in the top division from John Chapman 78, nett 68, who claimed third place on countback from Ian Gough 74, nett 68, Mick Rossborough 75, nett 68, and recently crowned club champion James Lamond 71, nett 68. Lamond did have the satisfaction of posting the best gross score.
Countback was required to determine the outcome in Division B with Simon Went 80, nett 68, edging out Barry Flick 81, nett 68, and John Harrison 82, nett 68, by virtue of a better back nine.
They were followed by James Underwood 84, nett 69, David Hart 83, nett 70, Dean Waugh 84, nett 70, Nick Wright 81, nett 70, and Walter Hogarth 85, nett 70.
Paul Heathfield 83, nett 64, was the Division C winner from Mark Bolshaw 83, nett 65, and Mike Everett 81, nett 65. Club captain Patrick Fleming 85, nett 66, finished fourth on countback from Vincent Healey 89, nett 66.
Heathfield also lifted the Stanley Dunn Cup for the best nett score and the over 50s trophy, while Everett captured the over 60s trophy
