The wealth of young talent at Kenilworth Golf Club was clearly illustrated on Saturday 18th July when teenagers Robert Owens and Alice Young were crowned club champions.
The 16-year-old duo showed a clean pair of heels to their more experienced rivals with Owens lifting the coveted men's title by two shots from defending champion Ben Hammond, while Young, who is the Warwickshire girls captain, won the ladies championship by three shots from Veronique Lintin.
Owens carded rounds of 77 and 72 for a winning total of 149 to finish ahead of Hammond (76 and 75) 151 and Gary Knight (75 and 78) 153.
Dean Sparrow shot rounds of 80 and 74 to finish fourth with 154 on countback from Richard Keegan 76 and 78 and Elliot Forbes 74 and 80.
Forbes posted the best gross in the morning round with Owens taking the honours in the afternoon.
