The County Card Scheme first introduced in 2005 by The Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs allows members of Clubs who had joined the scheme to play each other courses at greatly reduced rates - approximately half the normal visitors green fee.
Initially this scheme covered only four local counties - Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire - and was only available to men.
Its immediate success - together with a strong lobby from those men who enjoy playing golf with their wives - quickly resulted in it being extended to include Lady members of these Clubs and each subsequent year the number of Counties and the number of Clubs who participate has increased significantly.
The scheme for 2008 now includes Clubs in :
• Bedfordshire
• Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire (BB&O)
• Dorset
• Essex
• Gloucestershire
• Kent
• Leicestershire & Rutland
• Middlesex
• Nottinghamshire
• Somerset
• Surrey
• Sussex
• Warwickshire
• Worcestershire
and makes more than 500 courses for members of affiliated clubs to enjoy - an amazing opportunity at an annual cost of only £10 per player.
Kenilworth Golf Club was a founder member of the scheme and members are entitled to apply for an Annual County Card. Further details can be obtained from the Kenilworth Club Secretary - John McTavish.
