Course update 15 January 2010

A reasonable guess as to the rate at which the course will recover from the recent extreme weather.

 Today’s rain and heavy rain forecast over the coming weekend together with the rising temperatures, a thaw of the snow is inevitable.

Unfortunately at present the ground is still frozen which will not allow the water to penetrate effectively through the surface.

The course will be inspected regularly but it is highly unlikely that there will be any play before next Tuesday the 19th January.

As the thaw continues I will asses the possibility of any damage to the course and the safety of golfers walking on icy/wet surfaces. Even when the conditions seem okay the turf will need a day or so to recover before the course will be in a suitable condition to play.

Any damage now will not recover until spring or early summer.
