Kenilworth Cup

GARY KNIGHT made the most of home advantage to win the Kenilworth Cup at Crewe Lane on Sunday 17th August.

Visitors from 16 clubs, as far afield as Oswestry and Welshpool, were among the 89 golfers who competed.

The course, set up to bring out the best in players abilities, was in excellent condition and resulted in some great scores. The conditions truly suited Kenilworth GC member Knight who posted 69, nett 65, to lift the trophy.

Daniel Lane, also from Kenilworth, finished runner-up and won the Life Members Trophy, with 75, nett 67.

Countback on the last nine holes was required to decide the next three places with Robert Rankine (Rugby GC) 73, nett 68, edging out Kevin Armour (Kenilworth GC) 92, nett 68, and Philip Brown (Hearsall) 81, nett 68.

Chris Lewis took sixth position, again on a countback, with 87, nett 69.

The best gross went to Elliot Forbes 72, while Rene Jorgensen had the best nett front nine of 31 and Tim Bray enjoyed the best back nine of 33.
