New Year's Eve Celebration

The 2016 New Year's Eve celebration brought out the gambling instinct in Kenilworth Golf Club members and their guests for the evening. With £200 supplied to be used at the tables (great value for a £30 ticket) the tables were crowded with party goers trying their luck. The croupiers were provided with on the job training - otherwise known as making it up as you go along.  This was exemplified by Simmo who made up a new rule for every spin of the wheel ensuring that his customers at least finished with a winning streak - but only if they oohed, aahed and cheered sufficiently.

With winnings of over £4000 from her initial stake of £200, the Reverend Nicki Chatterton showed it's not what you know but Who you know that really matters.

Thanks were expressed to the many "volunteer" croupiers who Lady Captain Lesley had recruited for the evening, to the clubhouse staff for the excellent service and to the kitchen staff for the great food provided.

Midnight was celebrated in the traditional way with Auld Lang Syne - but how many realised that the last minute of 2016 lasted for 61 seconds?  Did we start singing too early?

Well Done  Captains Lesley and Charles and Social Chair Sue Draper for a great finish to 2016.

Croupiers James and Sammie preparing for action
Rien ne vas plus
Paul's not happy!  Brenda's says she's dealt a Black Jack - but it looks like a red jack to me!
So far so good - no picture cards out yet
OK - I've got 5, King and 9 - that makes 24 - pay 25s
Hang on - said Richard - is Hywel betting the bank's chips?
Sue & Di having a good time - last time they walked up these stairs they were Cinders and Dottie
Another big win - paid by cashier's cheque
Colin Smith - Winner of a Magnum of Champagne
And there was dancing too
Should Auld Acquaintance be forgot ...
The end of a successful evening - Happy New Year from Captains Lesley and Charles to all members

and a Happy New Year to all our Readers!
