Ben Hammond won the men's Extra Medal at Crewe Lane on Thursday 16th June. He amassed 37 points but only finished top of Division One by virtue of a better back nine than Dominic Butler with John Close third on 36.
The Division Two winner was Chris Maddox with 46 points from Mike Carrick 41 and Dean Waugh 41.
Countback was also required to determine the Seniors June stableford. John Smart edged out David Ellis in division One after they both scored 42 points, three ahead of third-placed John Wolfe.
Gary Harrison took the Division Two honours, again by virtue of a better back nine, from Chris Hole after they both registered 42 points. Nick Dennis finished third with 36.
Meanwhile, the ladies have been busy and the annual Mercia Carpets team event, generously sponsored by Vickie and Ollie Pearman, was won this year by Angela Bradley, Maggie Smith, Anne Saywell and Catherine Midgley.
Their reward was an individual coaching session at the newly opened academy in which our club professional Steve Yates augments his coaching skills with the latest technological aids.
Two Medal competitions saw Division One success for Caroline Durbin and Jackie Corby with nett 72 and 73 respectively. while the runners-up were Toni Shirley nett 72, on countback, and Pat Eden nett 74.
Angie Guest emerged triumphant in Division Two with nett 74 from runner-up Christine Machin nett 77, while Christine Price won Division Three with nett 74 from Jane Adams nett 78.
The annual county event for the Veronica Anstey Trophy, sponsored by Rudell Jewellers, was held at Kenilworth this year and ladies captain Liz Brown finished in a creditable third place.
A stableford competition, which was a qualifying round for the Charles Healy Trophy, saw Division One success for Sue Drew with 38 points from the in-form Jackie Corby 36.
The Division two winner was Eileen Rafique with 36 points, on countback from Caryll Green, while vice-captain sue Draper won Division Three with a magnificent 42 points from Jane Adams 35.
Sue Drew and Sue Draper will represent Kenilworth in the Charles Healy event at Worcester in September.
Kenilworth ladies have also enjoyed success in open events around the region.
Maggie Smith, Judith Wells, Rosemarie Hannam and Theresa Douthwaite finished thirrd in the Market Harborough Am-Am, while Judith Wells and Teresa Donnelly were runners-up in the Kings Norton 4 Ball Better Ball.
Liz Brown and Lyn Harrison teamed-up with Nicki Woodhouse(Stoneleigh) to finish runners-up in the Kenilworth Spring Open, while Brown continued her good form by winning best gross in the Statford-on-Avon GC Open.
