Kenilworth Golf Club's youngest junior member, Chanon James, aged just 6 years old, travelled to the home of golf, St Andrews, over the bank holiday weekend to take part in the national final of the Wee Wonders competition for boys and girls aged 12 and under. Chanon booked his spot in the final after finishing runner-up in the 5 - 6 age group at the Midland region qualifying competition which was held at Branston GC in July.
The final, held over two rounds of the Balgove and Strathtyrum courses at St Andrews, saw one-hundred and eight of the United Kingdom's most gifted young golfers gathering to take part in this leading junior event for the much coveted Wee Wonders title which has been running for 15 years. Chanon, whose golfing talent has already been recognised by many at Kenilworth Golf Club, demonstrated his full potential by holding his nerve in a very competitive final to win the 5 - 6 age group.
Chanon's victory has earned him an invitation to the 2012 US Kids World Championships to be held at Pinehurst, North Carolina, in August of next year.
