16 teams gathered on Wednesday 26th April in the presence of the Deputy Mayor Kate Dickson to enjoy their coffee & bacon rolls before heading out for a shotgun start. As the welcome was being made the heavens opened with a down pouring of hail!
The hardy golfers prepared for all weathers, spread out around a wonderfully presented course, ready for the klaxon and were then underway. Just a hole in and there was more hail but play continued. As the afternoon progressed the sun shone and at times a bitter wind blew, but the weather was more favourable than not.
A Gala dinner was enjoyed by all before the prizes were announced and the note raffle drawn. Richard Simmons then entertained us with his jokes and skill of auctioning!
Money raised for this event will be split between the Mayor's two chosen charities. SADS UK, in memory of his son who died just a year ago and The Warwick Hospital Cardiac rehabilitation unit, following his own time there after his heart attack.
Nearest the pins were won by Julian Allen & Mick Dorgan. Longest drives by Alison Tyler & Hywel Green.
The best individual scores were won by Linda McCarthy with 36 points and Richard Hales with a staggering 44 points. His team 'Charles Peters' were the overall winners with 102 points. Richard along with his team mate Richard Costello are pictured below with Deputy Mayor Cllr Kate Dickson and Mens Captain Jim McCarthy.
