Kenilworth: Course Open.
The traditional Captains' Summer Dinner and Dance night went with a swing on Saturday night - with entertainment continuing through the evening to make the occasion a tremendous success.
Between courses of the excellent meal, served by Stuart and his staff with their usual charm and efficiency, local magician Fletcher Ransberry moved amongst the tables displaying his ability to make fluffy red balls appear and disappear whilst being held (or so they thought) by the diners. After the meal he turned his attention to a piece of rope which he cut, joined up and did other clever things with under the eyes of the audience. He did this whilst speaking and responding wittily to the comments of the usual boisterous members showing that he could do stand up comedy as well as his magic tricks. Fletcher is currently at Kenilworth School and plans to study politics. Hopefully he will become a successful politician and find a way to make the budget deficit disappear.
Musical entertainment was provided by the Sensations - a great band who sang many off the great rock and Motown classics. They provided 2 sessions of music - and in the interval a BF (Borrowell Fireworker) kept us entertained with a series of wizz-bang pyrotechnic devices which gave us a spectacular fireworks display.
The Captains expressed their thanks to the chefs, to Stuart and his team, for Sue Draper, chair of the social committee who had brought the evening together and to Mark Draper for the fireworks display.
