The annual home match against Llandrindod Wells Golf Club took place on the 8th September. This is the 72nd year of the fixture which goes from strength to strength. Genuine friendships have been made across the clubs over the years and the matches are played in a great spirit.
Kenilworth were at somewhat of an advantage as at least half of the Llandrindod team had been exploring the Leamington night life until the small hours the previous evening. The home team claimed to have followed the captain's instructions to have an early night.
Kenilworth ran out the winners with a 10-0 whitewash, the first time in living memory that such a result had been achieved. Our visitors took the result with good grace and promised to exact their revenge next June in Wales. The shield has been restored to the clubhouse wall.
At the post match dinner, Denis Blasdale acted as Fines Master, extracting money for the Captains' Charity from most of the players for purely spurious reasons.
